Dr. Luther Adkins pastor of Trinity Baptist Temple founded Trinity Baptist College and Seminary in 1977. The purpose was to provide honest Bible training for those who desired to serve the Lord. In 1977, David F. Reagan became acquainted with Dr. Adkins and began attending Trinity Baptist College & Seminary. Bro. Reagan and his family eventually joined the Trinity Baptist Temple and served faithfully under the leadership of Dr. Adkins. Upon the death of Dr. Adkins in July 1985, Bro. David F. Reagan became pastor of Trinity Baptist Temple (later changed to Antioch Baptist Church). Bro. Reagan continued the vision and ministry of the evening Bible college (now called Scripture Baptist College). The focus continued to be honest Bible training for those desiring to serve the Lord. In the Spring of 2002, Andrew B. Ray became acquainted with Pastor David F. Reagan and began attending the evening Bible college. Bro. Ray and his family eventually joined the Antioch Baptist Church and served under the leadership of Pastor Reagan. Upon the death of Pastor Reagan in June 2007, Bro. Andrew B. Ray became the pastor of Antioch Baptist Church.  As to the Bible college, it continues under the same vision of the founder Dr. Luther Adkins.

About Us

Scripture Baptist College teaches the Bible and trains dedicated men and women to serve God. In order to do this well, we cut out the fluff. No psychology courses; no English literature; no physical education. Every course we teach prepares the man of God (or those that help him) to serve God better.

We have courses on books of the Bible, Bible doctrines, and Bible background courses like Bible history and geography. We teach courses on the work of God as in courses on missions and the preacher and his preaching. Because of its importance as a foundation of faith and a source of teaching and preaching, we teach courses on church history and Baptist history. We also deal with subjects like the cults and world religions.

Our classes are for immediate use. Our students testify about how what they heard in class or in chapel is often put to use within the week. We are not training you to serve God some day. We offer on-the-job training as you work for the Lord.

We do not need to brag about the number of our students who go on to serve the Lord after graduation. As a rule, our students are faithfully serving God before they step into our classrooms. We simply give them the meat and direction they need in order to serve God better.

The Bible courses are taught on a level seldom possible in church settings. We do not have a glorified Sunday School. Rather, we delve into the heart of the word and deal with the hard passages and questions. Our teachers are accessible to the students. Even if they cannot deal with a question during class, they will gladly talk to students either before or after class.

Our Stand

We believe in all the basic doctrines that should be clear to any Bible-believer: a literal heaven, a literal hell, a literal devil, the recorded events of Genesis as real, the direct creation of all things by God, the virgin birth, the trinity, the coming of Jesus Christ as both God and man, the blood atonement, the resurrection of Christ, the bodily resurrection of all men, the judgment seat of Christ and the great white throne judgment, but we will also include a list of other items that should be of concern when looking for a Bible College to attend.

  • We believe that the King James Bible of 1611 is God’s perfectly preserved Bible for the English-speaking people of today. Every word is exactly what God wants it to be and needs no correction by man.

  • We are Baptists. We hold to the historic Baptist precepts without apology.

  • We are independent Baptists. We are not part of any denominational headquarters.

  • We are premillennial and pretribulation-rapture.

  • We believe in salvation by grace offered freely to all men through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by means of His death, burial and resurrection. We are saved by the blood and kept eternally by the power of God.

  • We reject the tenants of Calvinism, especially those called limited atonement and irresistible grace.

  • We reject Charismatic doctrine, especially faith healing through power given to men and speaking in tongues.

  • We oppose neo-evangelicalism and ecumenicalism. We are to come out from among them and be separate; not join in with all despite doctrinal error and worldliness.

  • We believe that the local, New Testament church is the only institution established by God to fulfill the great commission and that each local church is to be headquarters for world missions.

  • We believe that believers ought to live holy, separated lives in this world.

  • We believe that we are called to evangelize the world and take the gospel to each and every man, woman and child. We are to do this both in public ministry and in private homes; in fact, at every possible opportunity.

Accreditation

Scripture Baptist College seeks accreditation from no one because no one has authority over a local church ministry other than Jesus Christ. In addition, we are developing a course of study as God leads, not as some accreditation committee demands. We have no intention of allowing the failing traditions of other institutions to be forced on us.

Neither do we have or seek state approval for the college. Our credits and degrees stand on their own merit. Many Bible colleges are approved by the state of Tennessee; yet their credits are no more respected in state universities than ours. With us, this is a matter of conviction. If you are looking for state-approved education, please go to school elsewhere.

As to how our credits will be accepted at other colleges, some points need to be made. First, every school is its own authority when deciding what credits to accept or reject. Second, most secular schools will not accept any credit or degrees from Bible colleges. A claim of accreditation by a Bible school usually means little or nothing in practice. We refuse to make you think that you are getting something you are not.

If you want some guarantee that your credits will be accepted at some major college or university, we recommend you go somewhere else. We have no intention of submitting to worldly control over our curriculum or pattern of education. We stand on the free exercise of religion in this country.
